Portland: Part 2

We were able to sleep in until the sun peaked through the windows. It was such a peaceful morning we headed to the kitchen to eat our leftover donuts from yesterday when suddenly we realized that our expensive and delicious breakfast was covered in ANTS.

After crying all of the tears we had in us, we gathered ourselves, decided to pretend our morning wasn't a disaster and went out for some good vegan lunch.

Vita Cafe helped us drown our sorrows in vegan nachos and macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately, we were too famished to snag a picture of the nachos, but they were SO GOOD.

Minds clear and tummies satisfied, we went on to explore Portland. Women and Women First... I mean... In Other Words (If you watch Portlandia you know) was our first stop. The feminist bookstore was very welcoming and full of supportive books and merchandise, I don't want to dull its shine, so I'll leave it at that.

We found ourselves wandering into the store next door, Green Hause. This place was full of art and knick knacks made from refurbished materials, everything was perfectly out of place. The owner, Cole, was even nice enough to have a very positive and motivating chat with us and give us some tips on exploring Portland. Thanks to her, our next move was Alberta Street. Full of vintage stores, foodie restaurants, street art and homemade souvenir shops, this area was perfect for browsing.

We even stopped for, you guessed it, ice cream! Salt & Straw must be a pretty popular place around here, the line was out the door and everyone waiting was oddly happy about it. We walked out 30 minutes later with one scoop of vegan cookies and cream with raspberry jam and one scoop of almond brittle sea salt. You know we were happy as can be.

With the day not quite over, we ventured downtown to look for some more shops with no luck, but we did run into the Rose Festival... No seriously we really ran into the fair. We couldn't drive any further because of barricades, so we decided to go in.

A ferris wheel ride, a brick of curly fries and an elephant ear later, we were ready to hit the hay. Portland, you have treated us so well, please stay weird.
